EUKLEIA PUB QUIZ

A team from Deutsche Bank are the new Eukleia Pub Quiz champions. “It’s not big and it’s not clever” led by captain Nicholas Walmsley beat off strong competition from eighteen other teams to take first place in this highly prestigious event held at the Auberge pub near Fenchurch Street on Wednesday evening.

Demonstrating impressive knowledge across a whole range of trivial topics, the DB team finished on 159 points. In a close run contest, Brevan Howard’s “Makka Pakkas” took the runners up spot, with “The Queen’s Peach” team from the FSA a creditable third. There was another closely fought contest for the Wooden Spoon, with MUSI’s “Dyslexia Untied” eventually emerging at the bottom of the pile with an astonishing display of general ignorance.

Quizmasters Michael Sacks and Trevor Norwood once again kept the audience entertained with their fashion sense and stylish hairstyles. There was also general consensus that the musical round, featuring a capella versions of the introductions to a variety of songs as recorded by the Eukleia team, was unlikely to trouble the scorers on next year’s X-factor.

The DB team take the title and the trophy for 2009, and in addition, Eukleia will make a donation of £500 to their nominated charity.
